Afghan Hound Rescue |
There are many ways to own an Afghan Hound, or rather be owned by one. One of the most rewarding is to take one that has fallen on hard times. This noble, elegant and independant breed is like no other in so many ways, but in one way all dogs are the same, each deserves to be loved, cared for and to have an adoring family to call thier ownet.
If you feel you are a special person or family that could offer one of these exceptional Afghan Hounds a home, that you have the patience and dedication to share your world with one, then please look through those unfortunate ones below and let the one who looks out from this page and tugs at your heart into your life.
You will be repayed a thousand times over with the love of the hound that is destined to be yours.
Please contact the local rescue officer listed alongside the adoptee for more information
Please note - Each regional club operates its own rescue section and officers. Both they and we have a strict criteria for the acceptance of potential adoptors to ensure each hound is placed in a suitable home. All decisions made by these clubs is final and the AHA will not enter into discussion on any matter arising from another clubs policies or requirements.

Do you know of anyone who can offer a loving home to two female Afghans aged 7 and 9? One is black & tan and the other is gold (or red). They are presently with the RSPCA in the Midlands area and I understand they are to be clipped off and spayed. They lived with an elderly owner who does not appear to have been able to care for their coats or exercise them. The RSPCA would like to rehome them together, so if you know of anyone who could help out, they would very much like to hear from you. It will be OK if older children are in the household. |

The RSPCA have a Tazi in thier centre. This is a relation to the Afghan Hound but the reason I am posting it here is Izzy needs a new home desperately and has been looking for sometime. The RSPCA say the following about her: Izzie came in to the centre with her sister Solo because their owners relationship broke up. Izzie is a very sweet dog that can be a little nervous so will require a patient, quiet home where she can feel safe and secure. Izzie would be suitable to libe with children over the age of 10 years, not suitable with cats or small animals but has lived with another dog so we would be happy to try. If you are interested in offering Izzie a home you will need fencing that exceeds 6" as these dogs are very agile and can jump! |

| This is Sonny. He's had a bit of a tough life and is now seeking a new home due to his current owners feeling it best for him to get more 1to1 attention than they can currently give. They report he has no real vices - apart from wanting permanent cuddles and an aversion to being brushed thoroughly! He's an identichipped, vaccinated, castrated male domino. Used to cats, children and is a useless guard dog because he will cuddle anyone given the chance! Thought to be around 6 -7 years old. |
