What do you get from being a member of the AHA

What benefits do you get from being a member of the Afghan Hound Association?

Well firstly you will get a discount on all your entry fees throughout you membership which can offer a substantial saving across a year.

In addition you will receive updates and copies of all the 'Think Afghan' publications we produce.

You will also get a vote or votes (dependant on membership type) to choose the judges for all of our future shows - Click HERE to view these lists, including the recently added Overseas Judges that are now available to vote for if you wish.

You will be able to compete in the Members Challenge held each year where each place you get at our shows will earn your dog or dogs points, the eventual winners of the year in each category will recieve a special rosette and trophy at the AGM each year.

AHA MEMBERS CHALLENGE RULES

EFFECTIVE FROM 1ST JANUARY 2003

1. The competition is open to A.H.A Members; when dogs owned in partnership all partners must be members.

2. Results will be assessed from 1st January to 31st December each year and awards will be presented at the following AGM

3. Scoring: Points may be gained at Breed Club Open and Breed Club Championship Shows, the scoring being as follows:

First........................Five points

Second....................Four points

Third......................Three points

Fourth....................Two points

V.H.C......................One point

NOTE: Double these points are earned at all Afghan Hound Association Shows .Points will be counted from the 1st entry and any subsequent classes at the same show including scheduled classes judged after Best in Show.

4. Classification:

Dog or Bitch Puppy..........Over 6 months and up to 12 months

Junior.................................Over 12 months and up to 18 months

Intermediate....................Over 18 months and up to 4 years

Senior.................................Over 4 years and up to 7 years

Veteran..............................Over 7 years

5. Payment of A.H.A. Membership by March 31st automatically enters the Members dog(s) for the Challenge Competition. The points accumulated by the Members dog(s) will be calculated by the Challenge Secretary during the January before the A.G.M. at which special rosettes and prize cards will be presented. Winners will be notified in order that they can attend but it should be noted that only current paid up members at the time of the A.G.M. will be eligible to receive awards.

6.A member's dog can qualify for more than one category during the year dependant on date of birth (e.g. puppy and junior).

7. Winners in each category will receive a special rosette, a prize card and will be able to have a photograph in the Magazine on the Members Challenge page. The reserves in each category will receive a special rosette and prize card.

8. In the event of a tie, points from 'V.H.C' will be deducted from the totals - followed by reserves etc.- until a clear winner emerges.

9. The A.H.A. committee are responsible for running the competition and will adjudicate on any queries.
